The Independence Overlay Metropolitan District is a Title 32 Special District that was established on September 7, 2017 for the purpose of financing public improvements for the use and benefit of the residents and taxpayers of the Districts. The District encompass 1,011 acres, is located in Northwest Elbert County, and acts in lieu of an Homeowners Association (HOA). The District is responsible for maintaining recreation facilities and common space areas in the community.
